Meet Our Local Growers: The Farms Behind Your Bouquet

Living in the Pacific Northwest, we're incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by some of the country's most talented flower growers. We're excited to introduce you to the people at the heart of your bouquet - those who care for the flowers from seed to bloom.

At Kvetka Flower, we believe in supporting this local ecosystem. When you choose locally-sourced flowers, you're not just getting fresher, longer-lasting blooms - you're supporting a full circle: growers cultivate with care, we design with their seasonal harvest, and you receive arrangements that truly reflect our region's beauty.

Below, meet the farms and growers who make our work possible. After all, these are the people whose dedication stands behind every petal in your bouquet.

Our Local Flower Growers

1. Rain Drop Farms

Growing specialty cut flowers in Oregon's Willamette Valley since 1999, Raindrop Farms is one of our longest-standing partners. They specialize in premium dahlias, ranunculus, sunflowers, and seasonal blooms grown using sustainable practices and natural fertilizers. Their flowers are always cut at the perfect time and transported in water - never flown in - ensuring the freshest, longest-lasting blooms. We source their stunning dahlias, ranunculus, sunflowers, and many other varieties throughout the season.

2. Delameter Valley Farms

A family farm from Castle Rock, Washington, Delameter Valley Farms started in 2010 growing pumpkins but soon discovered their true passion was flowers. Since 2017, they've been growing a wide range of specialty cut flowers using sustainable farming practices. Known for their stunning poppies, cosmos, dahlias, and unique locally-foraged greens and amaranth, they work directly with florists through the Portland Flower Market. Their flowers are grown locally and don't travel far, ensuring maximum freshness. We source a diverse selection of their seasonal blooms throughout the year - from spring poppies to summer dahlias and fall amaranth.

3. PeterKort Roses

A family-owned greenhouse in the Tualatin Valley, Oregon, Peterkort Roses has been growing exceptional flowers since 1923 - over 100 years of floral excellence. Owner Sandra runs this beautiful operation with a commitment to near-organic, sustainable growing practices. They specialize in premium roses (available May through December), along with ranunculus, lilies, freesia, lisianthus, hellebores, and anemones. What sets them apart is their belief that local flowers are superior - fresher, with fewer chemicals, and performing better because they don't travel long distances. As a small local producer working exclusively with the cut flower trade, they're able to accommodate last-minute orders and truly listen to their customers' needs. We're grateful to work with Sandra and source many of their stunning rose varieties, ranunculus, lilies, and lisianthus throughout the season.

4. Milk and Honey Flower Farm

A family-run farm rooted in a love for nature, community, and gorgeous flowers, Milk and Honey Flower Farm is located in La Center, Washington. Run by Kelly and Delaney McNeill, this farm sells wholesale fresh cut flowers through the Oregon Flower Growers Association (OFGA) at the Portland Flower Market. They grow a stunning variety of seasonal blooms including dahlias, cosmos, anemones, zinnias, and specialty foliage using sustainable practices. In addition to wholesale, they offer on-farm floral experiences, workshops, and flower subscriptions. Their commitment to locally-grown beauty and community connection makes them a valued partner in our floral ecosystem.

5. Island Farm Studio

Located on beautiful Sauvie Island just minutes from Portland, Island Farm Studio is a woman-run five-acre flower farm founded by Christine James - a farmer, photographer, and art director. This creative farm is committed to regenerative agriculture, land restoration, and community access through organic, sustainable practices. They grow a stunning variety of annuals, perennials, grasses, and natural dye flowers including dahlias, lisianthus, snapdragons, marigolds, and specialty blooms. Beyond flowers, Island Farm Studio serves as an education and event space, hosting conservation-based classes, creative workshops, and intimate gatherings. We're honored to source seasonal blooms from this inspiring Sauvie Island farm.

6. Field to Heart

Founded in 2013 by Danielle (Dee) Swan and Valiant Poole, Field to Heart is a flower farm located in Curtis, Washington - halfway between Seattle and Portland. What began as a U-Cut flower garden in Snohomish County has grown into a full-fledged farm committed to sustainable, chemical-free flower production. Both Dee and Valiant have extensive backgrounds in the arts, horticulture, and organic landscape maintenance, and they bring this unique perspective to their work. "We often wonder if we are farmers with the eyes of an artist or artists with a farmers' touch," Dee shares. Field to Heart is a proud member of the Seattle Wholesale Growers Market and Oregon Flower Growers Association, supplying high-quality seasonal blooms to florists throughout the Pacific Northwest. We're grateful to work with this talented duo and source their beautiful flowers.

7. Cathy's Cut Flowers

Wayne and Cathy transformed their 5-acre Washington property from a simple homestead with a milk cow and chickens into a thriving flower business. After helping her sister sell bouquets at the Chehalis Farmers Market, Cathy discovered her passion for flower farming. Since establishing Cathy's Cut Flowers in 2013 and joining the Portland Flower Growers Market in 2016, they've built a reputation for exceptional garden roses alongside anemones, ranunculus, tulips, sweet peas, dahlias, peonies, delphiniums, blackberry stems, and seasonal woodies. Their harvest season runs from March through early November, with year-round availability in Portland.

8. Walla Walla Flower Farm

At the base of Washington's Blue Mountains, Anne Sumner transformed a former wheat field into over an acre of vibrant blooms. Coming from generations of Walla Walla Valley farmers, Anne returned to her agricultural roots after years as a registered nurse and bank VP. Her farm grows close to 100 varieties - 95% of which she starts indoors by hand before planting outside. Featured on the Slow Flowers Podcast, Anne's mission is simple: "Share Flowers. Share Joy." Along with her husband Scott (who plays fiddle while she plays guitar), Anne creates weekly hand-wrapped bouquets filled with the prettiest blooms, best scents, and fullest colors from her pollinator-friendly fields.

9. Ishtars Eden

Named after their daughter Ishtar (the goddess of love and war in Gilgamesh), this small flower Eden in Amity, Oregon combines beekeeping with flower farming in a harmonious celebration of pollinators. Starting in 2020, this family operation expanded their flower garden specifically to host their honey bees - and now those bees share their blooms with the community. Beyond fresh and dried flowers, they offer mini herbal gardens and seasonal bouquet subscriptions at the weekly Amity market. Their enchantment with the world of honey bees and flowers creates a unique farm where every bloom serves a purpose: feeding pollinators and bringing beauty to people.

10. Vibrant Valley Farm

On Sauvie Island's unceded Wapato Territory, Vibrant Valley Farm operates at the intersection of agriculture, art, and textile innovation. Led by Kara, this farm grows garlic, flowers, and dye plants - but they're perhaps best known for cultivating Japanese Indigo (Persicaria Tinctoria) and producing the only farm-grown indigo pigment in the country. Growing up to 20,000 indigo plants annually, they extract pigment on-site for their Vibrant Valley Blue textile line, creating farm-to-fashion pieces from upcycled clothing. Beyond indigo, they grow zinnias, snapdragons, dahlias, lisianthus, and marigolds for natural dyes, selling weekly at the Oregon Flower Growers Association. Never using pesticides or herbicides, they treat flowers with the same care as vegetables - honoring sustainable practices in everything they do.

11. Adelman Peony Gardens

What began in 1993 when Carol Adelman planted her first peonies in a vegetable garden has bloomed into one of the world's most renowned peony destinations. Spanning 30 acres near Salem, Oregon, Jim and Carol Adelman's multi-generational farm grows over 500 named peony varieties - from heirloom classics to cutting-edge hybrids. Winner of Best of Show at the American Peony Society's national competition 11 out of the last 20 years, Adelman's has set the gold standard for peony excellence. During bloom season (late April through mid-June), visitors walk grass pathways through breathtaking color-blocked fields. Beyond the spectacular display gardens, they supply wholesale cut peonies and roots to florists, designers, and gardeners worldwide - including us, where we source numerous stunning varieties throughout their season.

12. Portland Flower Market

Located on Swan Island in Portland, the Portland Flower Market serves as the beating heart of the Pacific Northwest's floral community. Founded in 1941, the Oregon Flower Growers Association (OFGA) has connected local growers with florists and designers for over 80 years. This membership-only marketplace operates as a grower-owned cooperative where farmers rent individual spaces - similar to a farmer's market - allowing them to sell directly to florists. Early mornings (5:30am start) buzz with activity as florists and designers source seasonal blooms from the very farms that grow them. For us and countless other florists, the Portland Flower Market is where relationships are built, seasonal discoveries are made, and the region's floral community comes together - a true gathering place where local growers and designers connect over their shared love of flowers.

The Full Circle

This circle of support - from seed to celebration - makes our flower community special. A farmer grows the flower, we craft it into a bouquet, and you bring joy to someone you love right here in Portland. Everything stays within our region, everything supports each other.

When you choose Kvetka Flower, you're doing more than just buying a bouquet. You're supporting local farmers, their families, sustainable agriculture, and a community that values quality, care, and honest work. Thank you for being part of this circle with us.
